How to use the Name Picker

Paste or type your list of names into the text area — one name per line. Then press Pick! to select a random name. The picked name is highlighted and removed from the pool so it won't be selected again. Keep pressing Pick! to draw more names in sequence. When you've gone through the whole list, press Reset to start over.

The counter shows how many names have been picked and how many remain, so you always know where you are in the draw.

When to use a Name Picker

Any situation where you need to randomly select from a list of people — fairly, transparently, and without repeats:

  • Raffles and prize draws— paste in your entrant list, pick a winner live. Everyone can see it's random and fair.
  • Classroom cold calling — paste your student list at the start of term and pick names throughout the lesson. Students know the selection is random, which keeps everyone engaged.
  • Assigning tasks or chores — who presents first? Who cleans up? Let the picker decide rather than arguing.
  • Team selection — pick names one at a time and alternate between two teams for a perfectly random split.
  • Social media giveaways — paste commenter names and pick a winner quickly without needing a third-party app.

Picking multiple winners

The Name Picker naturally supports multiple draws — each pick removes the name from the pool, so your second and third picks are always different people. Just keep pressing Pick! until you have all the winners you need.

If you want something more visual for a small group, try the Wheel Spinner — add names as wheel options and spin for each draw. Or use the Number Generator if your list is numbered rather than named.
